General Purpose: This position is primarily responsible for Nesting, numerical control (NC) programming tool, in which two-dimensional models of components generated in CAD software are dynamically nested on to sheet steel. This position is a key staff member who works with Engineering and Operations daily.
Position Reports to: Department Lead
Duties:
- Optimize nests to improve Laser Cutting capacity
- Maximize nest efficiency and material utilization
- Become familiar with parts to reduce problems with orientation and part tipping
- Organize cut plans to optimize time usage
- Coordinate frequently with Production Manager and Fab Supervisor for plan priority
- Create cut list for lights out/night shift
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work with minimal work instruction
